Freelancers meeting notes for 28th August 2024
Posted by Paul Silver
On the 28th August, fourteen freelancers gathered in the beer garden of the Battle of Trafalgar pub in Brighton to chat about work they had on, finding new work, and a bunch of other stuff.
Here are the topics I managed to note down:
- Pass the parcel with ethernet connectors
- Orkney and archeology
- Consulting work offers
- When a client goes into liquidation
- How long does liquidation take?
- New potential project
- Car booting to clear out
- Being hired by the acquirer of a client
- Improving your home
- Companies that are run by their accounts department don’t tend to be good clients
- Judging when you’re too busy for more projects
- Kensuke’s Kingdom – animated film by Michael Morpurgo
- Non-Hollywood cinema
- Pet ownership
- SF books – Gibson: Neuromancer, Williams, Noon, Vonnegut, Niven & Pournelle, Richard Morgan: Altered Carbon
Big thanks to everyone who came along and made it a very enjoyable evening!
