Notes from the freelancers meet up on 16th October 2024
Posted by Paul Silver
On a very rainy Wednesday evening, 12 freelancers met in the Battle of Trafalgar, Brighton. This is some of what we talked about:
- The challenges and benefits of working within the charity sector
- Ideas for finding work
- What did you do before freelancing?
- Jobs that are a grind
- Recommended: the TV show “Alma is not normal” (BBC)
- Pet insurance vs no pet insurance over time
- Uses of Chat-GPT
- Social media after Twitter – where has everyone gone?
- “Early” an email list for bands and gigs
- X falls out of the Digital Markets Act as not enough Europeans using it
- Old games were really hard
- Games controller use in the military
- Cat pictures
- Rebrands that annoy designers because they’re so much worse than the previous branding
- Changing the focus of your work as market demands have changed
- The market is still really hard, have you felt that for one year or two?
(Sorry, no highlights this week as I’m full of cold.)
