Profile: Garry Robson
Skills: Illustration (traditional hand drawn and digital), cartooning, graphic design, printmaking.
I am a freelance illustrator specialising in fun quirky images and character design for print and online media. My work combines the use of pen line art, printmaking and digital art to create bold graphic illustration in bright colours and also in dramatic black and white. I work in three distinct styles:
- 'Pixel Love Art' style - is inspired by retro arcade game design and mainly licensed for greeting cards and other products but has been commissioned for editorial projects.
- 'Cute cut-out' style - a flat style of artwork suitable for publishing informational and marketing materials, infographics and narrative illustration.
- 'Black and white' style - is used for narrative and book illustration - particularly for spooky horror and fantasy-related subject material.
My clients include publishers, businesses, charities and not-for profit organisations, greeting card publishers (UK and Australia) and conceptual illustration projects for film and animation production that require character design. I also co-run the Brighton Illustrators Group (BiG) - a network for local professional illustrators based in the BN postcode area.
