Profile: Hazlitt Eastman

Skills: Wordpress theme and plugin development, Codeigniter MVC framework, HTML, CSS, Javascript, PHP, MySQL

As an experienced professional web developer I have produced many sites over the years some examples of which are listed below.

Based in Brighton, East Sussex my clients range from local businesses and web agencies to businesses and agencies in London, Holland and beyond.

De-mystifying the technology

My core aim is to de-mystify web development technologies so that the companies and agencies I work for can make informed decisions about how they want me to develop websites for them. And I like to ensure that the specific requirements of any project are clearly defined and agreed before I start writing software.

Project process

Many of the projects I develop follow this project process to ensure that I deliver the right product on time that meets the requirements:

  • Requirements planning
  • Staging site development and testing
  • User acceptance testing
  • Training
  • Go live

With smaller projects training and user acceptance testing may be minimal but generally they still play an important part.

Some Recent Projects

The Psychology of Diabetes

This site is a bespoke training system which I wrote using the PHP MVC framework Codeigniter. I ran a consultation workshop with the client from which I wrote a specification and used this is in conjunction with designs to do all the frontend and backend coding.

The Discerning Collection

I was provided with HTML/CSS templates for this holidays website which I converted into a Wordpress theme. I then extended the functionality within Wordpress to enable the client to edit all the content. Lastly I developed a Wordpress plugin which integrates the website with their external accommodation booking system via an XML API.

Careers with Barclays Bank

I was involved as a backend developer in the production of this recruitment website for Barclays Bank. I developed a Wordpress plugin that automatically imports jobs from an application tracking system using it's XML API. The plugin allows users to search the jobs database and provides administrators with options to display and change the settings of a number of related widgets.

Gent Monk Architects

Working from designs, I did all the frontend and backend coding to develop this site which uses Wordpress as a CMS. This involved developing a custom Wordpress theme and extending the CMS so that the client can edit all the content.

Please have a look at my website to see more examples of my work, and don't hesitate to get in touch.'
