Making APIs, Accessibility, AR use and more – notes from 19th February 2025
Posted by Paul Silver
On the 19th February 2025, twelve freelancers met in the Lord Nelson Inn, Brighton, to talk all things tech and freelancing. This is some of what we talked about:
- University of Sussex Hack Day coming up
- Building APIs for partial testing when the provider has no test version
- Handling a Brevo ecommerce integration
- Farm contraction and expansion plans
- Newcastle trip
- Write code expecting others to work on it one day
- Accessibility – WAG3 and others
- Android phone and AR glasses for working on the go
- Folding phones
- Putting work into the start of the project to save time later
- Death by a thousand subscriptions
- Figma is now a monopoly in the UI/UX tool design space
- Moving from physical servers to cloud ones
- Awkward conversations had diplomatically
- Changing the positioning and offerings of your business to match the current market and where it is moving to
- Companies that get away with folding and reopening under another name
(Sorry, no time to write up further thoughts about some of our conversations this week.)
