Freelancers meeting notes for 11th June 2025
Posted by Paul Silver
On the 11th June, eleven freelancers got together in the Lord Nelson pub to chat all things tech, freelancing, and a fair amount of nonsense too. These are the topics I managed to note down:
- Updating task management while you are on a call about a project so others can review is a useful way to minute the call
- Drupal latest improvements
- Task management systems
- Cheap property in Hull (turns out not so cheap)
- Living in Birmingham
- Everyone does their own versions of Agile
- The point of Story Points
- Business bank account finally open!
- Next MacOS (26) will natively support Linux containers
- Docker image from Nvidia with everything you need to use Tensorflow/hardware accelerated machine learning
- What to learn next as a mercenary programmer… Rust? Go?
- Juggling work and care for loved ones
- WordPress not using Composer
- Less and less people attending tech meet ups
- Problems of engagement in social VR spaces
- People take about two years to get bored of a place
- The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy radio series (which Laura heard ‘live’!)
