Freelancers meeting notes from 17th September 2025
Posted by Paul Silver
On the 17th September, 14 freelancers met in the beer garden of the Battle of Trafalgar pub to talk all things tech, self employment, and plenty of random stuff too. It was lovely to be in their beer garden and hopefully we’ll get another chance to use it before the weather gets too cold.
This is some of what we talked about:
- Working in wrist casts
- Trying lots of ‘addictive’ games to see how they work
- Hitting the daily limits in Claude AI
- Index funds, managed funds, investing over a long while
- “Reality is just inherently hard to predict”
- Leaving Meetup and moving your community to Discord
- Getting your server taken down by a mass of AI bot scrapers
- Nightshade to poison images when processed by AI/LLMs
- Encoding information in non breaking characters
- Reaction videos – do they give the feeling of an audience watching with you?
- Sourtoe drink reprise
- Getting more iron in your diet
- The Onion Futures Act
- Film: Mad God
- Parking permits in Brighton
- Rebuilding cars
- Welcome to the Farm After Dark – what happens when the notes stop?
