Posted by

On the 8th October, thirteen freelancers met in the Battle of Trafalgar to talk tech, business and all things freelancing. This is some of what we talked about:

  • LLM / Token instances on DigitalOcean
  • Sonnet 4.5
  • AI as a whole field
  • The market is still very quiet
  • Seeing your clients shrink
  • Speculative work
  • Creators of forms using progressive disclosure should be punished, but they shouldn’t know for how long
  • Clients expecting work for free
  • Learning marketing by deconstructing adverts – still progressing on Banter VR
  • A trip around France and Spain
  • The Dali museum in Figueres is excellent
  • Politics should be run by people of normal working age
  • Trying to pay out of your pension – not as simple as you’d hope
  • Tax office frustrations
  • Having a lodger
  • Allowing people to run Javascript on your server
  • Retiring early enough to enjoy it
  • Parking techniques we didn’t know about
  • The varied facets of autism
  • Covid and its effects on the care ecosystem
  • mRNA vaccines

(Sorry, no time for more in-depth notes about any of the topics this week.)
