Being negged by your car, 2FA woes and more from our freelancers meet on 10th June 2026

On the 10th June, eight freelancers got together in the Battle of Trafalgar to swap notes on everything from two factor authentication to handling people trying to get a rise out of you for their videos.

Although it was a lower turnout than usual, this was the funniest meet we’ve had for a while, although as usual the exact jokes escaped me while I was writing up the notes below. Thanks to everyone who came and made it a great evening!

  • Experiences at University and Polytechnics
  • Working on your own projects
  • Taking a much needed break from the tech world
  • Start of contract hassles
  • Feeling guilty for wasting time in a contract but it’s not actually your fault
  • 2 Factor Authentication (2FA) is a pain when you leave your phone somewhere
  • Saving 2FA keys in a password vault
  • Hassles in WSL by having a too recent version of Ubuntu
  • Having to use Microsoft 2FA for a contract
  • Being negged by your car
  • The (mens) World Cup in the USA
  • Using software to remind you to change posture and take breaks
  • Migraine triggers
  • Remembering to not make humorous asides during interviews
  • Monetising pranks
  • Ban social media for pensioners
  • Brighton Job Fair
  • The pros and cons of having lodgers
  • Looking forward to Claude Code Anonymous Brighton meet up
