Details
I am a freelance illustrator and graphic designer with over 15 years experience working in print and digital design industries. I work primarily with not-for-profit clients such as international charities/aid organisations, but my clients also include educators, trainers and publishers.
Illustration:
As an illustrator I work mostly in three specific styles (described below) and specialise in character design and figurative work using a combination of traditional (drawing, pen and ink, painting and print making) and digital techniques:
‘Pixel Love Art’ style: inspired by retro arcade game design and mainly licensed for greeting cards and other products but has been commissioned for editorial projects.
‘Cut-out’ style: a flat style of artwork suitable for publishing informational and educational materials, infographics and narrative illustration.
‘Scratchy and spooky’ style: used for narrative and book illustration – particularly for black and white spooky horror and fantasy-related subject material.
For the last five years I’ve also been a co-organiser of the Brighton Illustrators Group (BiG) – a network for local professional illustrators based in the BN postcode area.
Graphic design:
I work with design for both print and web applications and have a background in print management as well as design. My approach to design projects is very flexible and I am happy working with established brand guidelines and styles as well as helping my clients develop and establish new visual identities for their print and online work.
